Stephen Wilkes
Tour de France. Paris 2016
This Photography of Stephen Wilkes is called Tour de France which occurs in Paris in France. The first clear attraction that brings this photography is the different shades that occurs from the left to the sent to the right. While looking at it and trying to find the differences, we can examine it and find that the left is the evening the middle is near midday and at the right is the sunrise.
The abstract colors are the one of the many things that caught my eye on this specific piece of work as it uses beautiful tones of darkness mixed with orange and red. While doing so Stephen Wilkes also shades and uses the transition to darkness and light really well which just simply improves the image overall.
A way that I personally think is what would it be like if I was in his position doing what he is doing. What would be the struggles that would arise? When looking at this already the angle of view that those multiple photoshoots that were taken must have been taken high up. Especially during a "Tour de France" there must have been crowds of people around the placement that was chosen to take the picture. Another issue that has been taken into account is that when Wilkes sets up at the position the day and event that will arise has no control. Wilkes is unable to control how the weather will occur. Therefore if a storm was to occur, this picture would not have been able to be the same. This can be thought of as a disadvantage as the camera and all accessories could be damaged by winds or rain.
If I could add something or change something that I think could bring more to Wilkes collection is ones with storms. Having such as talked about a moment where the weather takes over right after a beautiful day. Transitioning from day to stormy lighting weather. I believe a combination of those two complete different weather would make a beautiful contrast
For my project I could definitely use that to my advantage. Using multiple images to make a beautiful ending picture. My critic on this " day and night " is that he could have possible uses weather also to his advantage. Using snow or lighting to implement more to picture. Yes obviously that will bring thousands of more problem and risks but higher risk higher reward. I believe risking that, would come out with a brilliant end of pictures

What is it about the piece that caught your eye? What part of their technique or approach would you be interesting in possibly integrating into your own work? What critiques do you have, if any? What would you have done differently if you tried the same idea/technique/subject?
